  1. What is the Mexican Society?

The Mexican Society is an extra-academic group of UEA students interested in getting to know and promote Mexican culture, academia and events.

  1. The Mexican Society is only for Mexicans?

Definitely not. Here you will find members of different nationalities that are interested no only to learn the language and Mexican culture, but also to share their own experiences and knowledge of Mexico and its culture.

  1. Under what rules does the Mexican Society operate?

Because we are one of the societies and clubs within the Union of Students of UEA, the Mexican Society is governed by the rules of the Union of Students of UEA, therefore our activities are subject to these rules, as well as our objectives.

  1. Who can be a member of the Mexican Society?

All students with a valid UEA student ID number or registered in the "Union of Students". Associate members are those people who are not students and have any special ability, interest of essential resource for the Society. Also UEA alumni can be Permanent Members of the Society.

  1. Do all members of the Mexican Society have to pay the subscription fee?

The payment of the subscription fee is a requirement for registering the Society with the "Union of Students". This money is administered by the "Union of Students" but it is exclusively used for financing activities of the Society. Current fees are: £5.00 for Students and Associate Members.

  1. Is the subscription fee the only finance means of the Mexican Society?

No. The Society can also gather finance resources from organized activities. Another important financial resource is an annual grant given by the "Union of Students" whose amount depends on the previous year's activities and expenditures.

  1. Which are the main benefits of being a Member of the Mexican Society?

There are several benefits, activities have a reduced price for members, there are members only activities and there are some academic benefits because we have a representative in the Union Council. You also can become familiar with Spanish and share with Mexicans and members from many other nationalities. There are also general activities such as: Independence Day, Dia de Muertos, Posadas, etc. where all members can participate in preparing food and beverages that are typical for those celebrations. Also, when you are a member of the Mexican Society you can have access to the many resources the Union of Students has for organizing activities, either social or academic.

  1. What is the benefit for me if I'm not a UEA student?

The main connection between the Society and any person external to UEA is our Webpage and the yahoo groups email system. In them we distribute specific information on the Academic and General life here in UEA and Norwich. This information is most relevant if you are about to come to Norwich and do studies in UEA. If you are alumni the Society will enable you to maintain contact with situations related to your stay here in UEA as well as the bridge between current students and alumni for reinforcing cooperation networks in your professional life.

  1. Is there and option for me if I'm alumni of UEA?

Yes there is. In July 2004 a UEA Alumni Association was created in Mexico. They encompass any student that has attended UEA and is either Mexican or residing in Mexico.
