Objectives and Characteristics of the MexSocUEA
|
I.
OBJECTIVES
I.1. Support
the Mexican students of the University of East Anglia registered as members of
the Mexican Society, as well as their family members, in all ways possible.
I.2.
Facilitate
the entry and exit of the students that are members of the Mexican Society in
general.
I.2a.
Help the Mexican and International student (members of the Mexican
Society) in the processes of adaptation to student life in the University of
East Anglia and in Norwich. Three phases are considered for this process: stage
previous to them leaving their country, arrival to Norwich and first weeks in
Norwich.
I.2b.
Offer
support, in as much as possible, to the members of the Mexican Society during
the time they are carrying out their studies in Norwich (in the University of
East Anglia), and in the case of Mexicans, in their return to Mexico or other
countries.
I.3. Constitute
a platform to spread at the internal, local, national and international levels
the research activities and academic work that their members carry out as
university students.
I.4.
Provide
information to the general public about the Mexican Society in UEA, academic and
social life in the University and in Norwich.
I.5.
Provide professional, cultural, tourist and academic information of
Mexico.
I.6.
Work as
nexus between its international and international members with diverse national
or international organisms, institutions, and industries, as well as the Mexican
Government. This can be with the purpose of work, scholarship or economic
grants, altruistic purposes (such as ecological, human rights, humanitarian aid,
etc...), as well as academic purposes.
I.7.
Organize diverse
social activities with the purpose of facilitating the integration and
coexistence of the Mexican and international communities, as well as to obtain
operating funds.
I.8.
Promote the Universidad de East Anglia
in Mexico, particularly through conferences and participating in several foreign
education opportunities events organized by or for higher education level
academic institutions in Mexico.
I.9.
Maintain communication
with the Members of the Mexican Society graduated from the University of East
Anglia. Said communication shall allow a better use of knowledge, experience and
professional potential of all alumni, providing and extra support for future
alumni in their reintegration into professional life in Mexico or other
countries.
I.10. Constitute a financial emergency fund for students and on the long term provide
economic facilities to the members of the Mexican Society.
I.11. Coordinate efforts with the Mexican Society UK, which encompasses Mexican
Societies of several Universities in the United Kingdom, with the objective of
extending the scope and impact of the activities of each of the member
Societies.
I.12. Channel the ideas and concerns of the members of the Mexican Society in
order to present them to the authorities and institutions either Mexican or
foreign (e.g. CONACyT, Mexican Embassy in London, Union council).
I.13. Create
connections or networks among their members that facilitate establishing
professional, academic and social communication between professionals and
students.
I.14.
Maintain and update the "Mexican Society Directory" with curriculum data and
contacts of members and ex-members. Said directory shall be mostly of public
access and shall serve to establish the links described in points I.14a and
I.14b.
I.14a. Operate as nexus between potential students, students and alumni from UEA
that are or have been members of the Mexican Society.
I.14b. Operate as nexus between UEA students that wish to visit Mexico as part of
their studies with Mexican members and ex-members of the Mexican Society.
I.15. The members that give their explicit approval at the moment of
entering/updating their data in the "Mexican Society Directory" could be
contacted.
II.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE
MEXICAN SOCIETY
II.1.
The Mexican
Society is an autonomous university organization without political
affiliation.
II.2.
The Mexican
Society is of international character but with Mexican preponderance.
II.3.
The Mexican
Society is an officially bilingual society (Spanish and English).
