 Rules of the MexSocUEA

The Mexican Society, as well as all clubs and societies of the UEA, is subject to the rules and policies of the "Union of UEA Students". A copy of said document is available in the website of the "Union of Students".

In this section we point out some important points that regulate the activities of the Mexican Society. If you have a question regarding the rules mentioned below, or any other point, do not hesitate to contact any member of the committee.

  • Any society requires a least 30 members to be able to be registered in the "Union of Students". These members can be all students with current UEA registration, their family members and external people previous authorization by the "Union of Student"". Family members or external people cannot be part of the committee, although they do enjoy voting privileges.
  • Each member shall have to pay a minimum subscription fee of £5.00 for students and associate members, and £10.00 for lifetime members; this fee allows you to participate in any of the activities established by the Society. This fee also carries extra benefits such as reduction in prices of activities that have an entrance fee.
  • The money collected by the Society shall be administered by the ‘Union of Students’ and shall be used for financing the activities of the Society.
  • The Committee Members shall be elected annually; re-election to the same post is not possible.
  • Meetings can only be convened by Committee Members, and the agreements reached shall only be valid if there is at least a quorum of 50% of the current membership.
  • The Committee shall administrate and organize the Society activities and rules. They shall assign specific activities to members and workgroups in concordance with the members and rules of the Society.
  • The decisions of the Committee shall have to be approved by the majority of the members present in the meetings.
  • Any decision made by the Committee in a meeting can be rejected if at least 67% of the members present in the meeting so vote.
  • Any change to the Society Constitution or the objectives of the Society requires the approval of 75% of the members present in the meeting as well as approved by the ‘Union of Students’.
