Ladies and Gentlemen,

I hope you all are prepared for our best participation ever in the International Party. One week apart from the big success.

Well, we are now entering to the final stage to have it all ready. We are really needing volunteers in our food stall, serving food, re-heating, cleaning and especially one who is keen to explain the recipies and ingredients used in the plates. That star, One step ahead, please.

We are open to any suggestion for the stall decoration.

Any volunteer, please contact:

marco.salas@uea.ac.uk

Best Regards,

The Mexican Society.

P.S.

This are basically our responsibilities:

1. Each food stall will be responsible for cooking traditional food,
enough to serve roughly 200 people. Now I know this may sound like a lot, but it can be done. Try and prepare cheaper dishes, rather than elaborate ones. Also to help portion control at the party, try and prepare snack foods which are pre-proportioned (such as cookies or spring rolls). Also it may help to pre-organise small serving sizes for dishes like curry or casserole, which are not pre-proportioned snacks. And also keep in mind that we are not serving dinner, this is just supposed to be a small taste of a different culture, so don't feel bad or stingy about refusing large portions. As for the number of dishes to prepare, each stall will only have one table, so about 4-5 dishes would be great, though just 1 or 2 is fine. And one more thing, keep in mind a vegetarian option for each stall because we don't want anyone to feel left out
2. Other than preparing food, each stall is responsible for its own decorations. If you have not already heard, the theme for this year's party is 'Passport to the World'. The only decorations that the Student Union is allowed to have on a large scale, due to fire safety laws, are flame resistant flags hanging from the ceiling and a few suitcases on the edge of the stage(to go along with the travel theme). Stalls on the other hand, because they will be on a smaller scale, are allowed to do basically anything except have open flames, so with this in mind we were hoping for each stall to create a distinct ambiance to reflect its respective culture so that when people move from stall to stall, it is as if they are 'travelling from country to country'. Also to keep in mind is that, to help with crowd control, stalls will be grouped by continent. Each stall will need at least a flag, but additional decorations can be obtained cheaply by contacting your local embassy, approaching local takeaway businesses, or raid your room for any traditional things you may have brought with you which you can display. Also, internet websites dedicated to party supplies can provide inspiration. At the moment Stevie and I are trying to get money from the Union so that we can provide the flags for the stalls as well as stamps to use on fake passports, which we will be providing as souvenirs. Also Costumes are encouraged.
3. This year we are hoping to make a cookbook of all the dishes present at the party and sell it for £1 or £2, but in order for it to be ready by the day of the party. To speed the production of the cookbook up, please follow this format. Title of the dish at the top, centre, in bold. If it is a vegetarian dish follow the title with a capital V in parenthesis. Directly under that, in parentheses and not in bold, the country it is from. Under that, 'submitted by:' and then the society's name or the individuals name. Then a list of ingredients with their proportion sizes. Then the directions for
cooking the dish. This should all be done in 'Word' and in 12 point,
times new roman font. If you would like you can put a contact email address at the bottom for questions. When you send it to me, put 'International Cookbook' as the subject heading. Also, please keep each recipe to one page. An example is attached to this email.

Finances:
1. The Union will reimburse each stall with up to £60 to cover food and decorations, so PLEASE remember to keep your receipts. Now I know this may not sound like much, but it is double what was given last year to each stall and the Union will be providing plates, cutlery, serving spoons, and, as mentioned above, possibly stamps and flags. Also it may be worth using your society's money to buy decorations which can be used again and again each year. It is unfortunate that this is all the Union can provide, but the International Party does not make enough profit to
support any increase in this amount so I hope each stall will be ok with this budget.
Dear MexSoc Members:

As you probably may know on February the 28th is this year's International Party, and as usual we like to impress all the people attending and also participating. In order to reach that purpose we really need your collaboration. Until now these are the activities and contacts if you like to be involved:

Baile prehispánico (Prehispanic Dancing):
Ulises: ulises.rosas@bbsrc.ac.uk

Baile regional (Traditional Mexican Dancing):
Marianela Talavera: marianelatgcti@hotmail.com

Para el Norteño y quebradita (Sorry, no Free Translation):
C.Morales@uea.ac.uk

We also like to know if someone(s) is (are) interested in singing maybe one or two Rancheras on the stage. As far as I know, you would have the support of the famous "Subterráneos".

On the other hand, remember the usually every country prepare a stand with traditional food. So, we would like to know who is interested in cooking dishes for the party, and also helping in the stand. Remember that keeping the tickets of the money you spend in the dishes could be reimbursed. So, there's no excuse for not preparing something!

The contact for the Mexican Food is:
a.trejo@uea.ac.uk

We are trying to find somebody that can help with the Stand Decoration, any Volunteers?

Of Course, any idea that could help for the success of our participation in the International Party is always appreciated.

Hi all

We have installed some BOT filters to be able to avoid having more bots trying to get into our discussion board. While thes are relatively effective, there is still the possibility for one or two to come in.

The disadvantage to this filtering is that some legitimate users might get locked out or would otherwise unable to register. To ensure that you are getting through use you UEA email account initially, then you can change it to any other accoun you wish to use. If you do not have a UEA account, and are being blocked please send and email to either Tlaloc or any Tlatoani.

Cheers

Hi,

I got santa and the insurance company to give me new phones to replace my old one. So I ended up with an extra brand new Nokia 6230i in black.

The website says that it can hold MMC card of up to 512MB (which makes it a wonderful MP3 player), but I have used a 1GB card, and I have a friend who had a 2GB card in his.

Oh, since it was sent directly from Nokia it is probably not locked to a particular mobile phone company, but even if it is, the guy in the market unlocked my old one for a tenner.

Interested? PM or e-mail me.
haha tu y tus cuestiones dificiles..

Si no mal entiendo puede ser tanto una imposibilidad personal
(yo no puedo)
como una imposibilidad impositiva
(se me prohibe)

asi que ambos casos que describes son posibles. Lo sacas por contexto pero me aventuro a decir que es imposibilidad impositiva (se me prohibe)
